轧辊产生弹性压扁时可能轧制的板厚。在一定轧机上轧制一定的产品时，随着板带的逐渐变薄，压下越来越困难。当板带薄至某一限度后，不管如何旋紧压下螺丝或加大液压压下的压力，不管反复轧制多少道，由于轧辊产生弹性压扁而不可能再使产品变薄。弄清轧辊的使用条件以及在同类型轧机中所用轧辊的失效方式，了解当前各种轧辊材质的性能和制造工艺，才能较正确地制定该轧机用辊的技术条件和选用合适而经济的轧辊材质。这一极限厚度称为可轧厚度。

In the testing standard of cold roll, the roll body is usually divided into the surface area, the center area and the middle area according to the force condition, and then the critical dimensi of the defects are allowed in each area according to the principle of fracture mechanics.
